The Anne and Robert Cowan Writers Award recognizes and awards writers who have made an exceptional contribution to literary arts through a uniquely Jewish perspective. Awardees must be emerging writers who have published work (novel, short story, creative non-fiction, memoir, graphic novel, or another hybrid form), and who:

-reside in the greater San Francisco Bay Area
-engage thoughtfully with Jewish themes in their work

The Anne and Robert Cowan Writers’ Award is made possible by Robert Cowan, who established the award at the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties in 2004.
