ACUA Exhibition Proposals

Type: Exhibition Opportunities [View all]
Posted by: Alberta Council for the Ukrainian Arts
Deadline: Sun, April 30th, 2017

The Alberta Council for the Ukrainian Arts (ACUA) is a non profit organization that operates the ACUA Gallery

& Artisan Boutique. We welcome proposals from Ukrainian artists in any media for exhibitions or special

projects for the Signature Artist Series 2017 - 2018 year. The ACUA Gallery & Artisan Boutique is located at

9534 - 87 Street in Edmonton, Alberta. The gallery represents different artists with Ukrainian backgrounds and

heritage, without their artwork necessarily being Ukrainian based. The gallery accepts proposals for solo

exhibitions and two person exhibitions, as well as a portfolio submission to participate in a group show. The

gallery has one main exhibition space for the Signature Artist Series, which provides an intimate space, with

large windows providing natural light. Exhibitions will run for the course of one calendar month, and the artist

must be in attendance for the reception. It is the mandate of ACUA to facilitate and encourage greater

appreciation and awareness of the Ukrainian arts and their cultural significance to the greater Alberta

community. The submitting artist must be willing to present an artist talk, and or have a suggestion for a

workshop related to exhibition (artists will be presented an honorarium for workshops).

ACUA Gallery & Artisan Boutique provides an opening reception, printed materials, and prepares publicity for

exhibitions. As a non profit gallery we do not have a budget for artist exhibiting fees, shipping, or travel. The

gallery does take a small commission on artwork sales made during the exhibition.

Membership in the ACUA Gallery & Artisan Boutique is not required to make a submission, however selected

artists must become members of the Alberta Council for the Ukrainian Arts. Membership will be required for

each participating artist.
