CALL FOR ARTWORK - EXTENDED DEADLINE NOW NOVEMBER 17TH 2017!

The University of Mary Washington Galleries are proud to host the eleventh Mid-Atlantic New Painting biennial exhibition! The competition is open to artists 18 years of age and older, who live in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. Entries must have been completed within two years of the application deadline. Paintings in any painting medium are eligible.

AWARDS: 

One Purchase Award (in the amount of the cost of the piece)

Four Merit Awards ($500, $300, $200, and $100)

Entry Deadline: Entry applications must be received no later than 5pm, Friday, November 17, 2017.

Exhibition Timeline

Entry Deadline: Friday, November 17, 2017

Notification sent to artists: Monday, December 4, 2017

Works due at Gallery: Monday- Friday, January 8 – 12, 2018

Opening Reception: Thursday, January 25, 2018, 5-7pm

Exhibition on view: January 25- March 18, 2018

 

Image Formatting: Each artist may submit up to three images through Submittable with JPEG file format images only. Images must be high resolution (300dpi) with the broadest dimension being no larger than 1500 pixels. Each image file must be named with the artist’s name followed by an underscore and the corresponding image number from the entry form as in: MarySmith_1.

 

Entry Fee: A $35 non-refundable fee must accompany the entry. It is encouraged that you submit payment with the rest of your application materials through Submittable. Lack of fee, improperly formatted images, or an incomplete entry form will disqualify the entry.

 

Shipment: Artists are responsible for round trip transportation of accepted works. Works may be hand delivered or shipped prepaid with a return-shipping label included in the package. Shipping and labeling instructions will be detailed in the acceptance letter. Shipped works will be returned in the same packaging materials in which they arrive, thus shipping containers must be strong enough for the return trip. Hand-delivered works must be wrapped or boxed for their protection.  NO PACKING PEANUTS.
