Kent/Blossom Art Intensives are a series of two-week intensive art workshops conducted each summer since 1968 at Kent State University by resident School of Art faculty and an exciting array of visiting artists. Each workshop is specific to one medium, and this year we’re offering workshops in printmaking, ceramics, and glass.

College credit option: 3 credits (undergraduate or graduate)

Non-credit tuition option available.

Workshop Dates: May 27 – June 9, 2018

ALTERNATIVE PHOTO PROCESSES IN PRINTMAKING

Explore the creative potential and expanded field of printmaking using photo-based print processes. Students will create an independent body of work in collaboration with expert faculty that investigates alternative photo-based print processes such as cyanotypes, salt prints, and the use of digital fabrication tools to develop matrixes.

SCULPTURAL METHODS IN CERAMICS AND MIXED MEDIA

Expand your interdisciplinary skills in this ceramics and sculpture-based workshop.  Students will draw inspiration from the dynamic interdisciplinary practice of the visiting artists to create an independent body of work.  This immersive workshop is appropriate for students who are interested in ceramics as well as sculpture.

Resident Faculty – Peter Christian Johnson

HOT-SCULPTED AND FLAMEWORKED GLASS

Learn to combine hot-sculpted glass in the hot shop with flameworked soft-glass components to create collaborative glass sculptures. This intensive workshop will focus on the dynamics of timing, teamwork and techniques to create sculptural forms in glass.
