Expanded Media Digital Summer Workshops
For artists working in the field or graduate/undergraduates* seeking to expand their studio material practice.
June 25 - July 20, 2018
Expanded Media Digital Summer Workshops are week long intensive all day workshops, where participants experience a focused period of intellectual and artistic growth. Participants can take a single one week workshop, two, three, or the full roster of four workshops. Week one is experimental, traditional, and non-traditional print-media, week two, large format digital print-media, the third week sound arts and the final week experimental and real-time video arts. Expanded Media Digital Summer welcomes artists with beginning to advanced technological experience.
The village of Alfred, New York is in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains about an hour west of Corning, an hour and a half south of Rochester and two hours from Buffalo, with Daily Bus service to and from NYC.
Workshop participants will have twenty four hour access to exceptional studio facilities, including Mac pro workstations in both the computer labs and edit suites, full Adobe CC suite, Doepfer audio synthesizer, Blackmagic Video mixer-keyer, Jones Video processor modules, GRM tools (audio plugins) with Midi interface control, TASCAM field recorders, 4K video production, video projection mapping, HD VIZZable with ableton live, Surround sound and multi-channel video and sound installation, roll-fed large format digital printers, Takach-Garfield Presses and Stienmesse and Stolberg Flatbed Offset Press and various Inking Rollers and Large assortment of Hand Brayers and Rollers.
