Open call for Painting Purchase

Request for Proposals:
Bloomsburg University seeks proposals for a painting of a country or nautical scene to be included in their permanent collection and displayed in a new academic building that will house the department of Art and Art History.  This purchase is made possible by the generous gift from the estate of Dorothy P. Schneider in memory of Benny and Esther Pichel.  The purchase award of $4,000.00 must cover the cost of the painting and its delivery to Bloomsburg University. 

Artist proposals will be reviewed relative to the following criteria:
• Adherence to the country or nautical theme
• Quality of the painting proposed for purchase
• Appropriateness for the audience
• Artist’s Resume
• Artist’s Statement

 

Eligibility
This program is open to artists 18 years of age or over.  Selected painting must be a unique original artwork, suitable for display, ready for installation, and must match the image submitted during application.

 

Audience
Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania is a comprehensive public university.  The painting should be suitable for the general public.

 

Timeline
Proposals must be received by Friday, August 17, 2018 in order to be considered.
Delivery to BU prior to: Friday, January 18, 2019

Proposals must include the following:
1. ARTIST’S STATEMENT
Applicants must include a statement about the significance of the work submitted for consideration.
2. CURRENT RESUME OR CV
Resume or CV should include information about education; relevant professional experience; exhibition history, awards, grants, and inclusion in public collections.
3. IMAGES OF WORK AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE/IMAGE LIST
Applicants may submit up to five digital images of paintings available for purchase. An image list corresponding to the submitted images indicating the title, date, media, and dimensions must also be included.
