Tired of applying to all the Philadelphia July juried exhibitions and never getting in?  Worse yet, you see the shows and are dumbfounded by what got in, while your highly superior work was rejected?  This summer Practice Gallery has the solution to your July rejection blues.  Don’t think of your impersonal, form rejection e-mail talking about how highly competitive this year’s jurying was, how there just wasn’t enough room for all the work, or how your work is going on file for future possibilities, as a failure.  This year is your “make it moment”!   To combat your frustration and indignation, Practice is presenting “Best of the Worst.”    Forget those $35.00 application fees, for just $10.00, and your rejection e-mail from a 2018 Philadelphia based July juried exhibition, you can participate in the great Philadelphia Salon des Refusés.

 

To apply, send images and descriptions of up to 3-5 available works, your resume, and your rejection email in a single PDF to info@practicgallery.org with “Best of the Worst” in the subject line.  Upon submission pay the nominal $10.00 application fee via Paypal to info@practicegallery.org or use the quiclink: paypal.me/PracticeGallery to complete your application.  Entry is guaranteed, but due to limited space, Practice may not be able to exhibit the exact work submitted, but will make every effort to do so.

 

About Practice: Our gallery seeks to support artist practices that focus on performance, participation, and experimentation.  Practice’s governing body is composed of a group of artists and art workers who produce or do not produce art works in a variety of mediums both physical and metaphysical. Peter Morgan, Charity Thackston, Jerry Kaba, Heather Ossandon, LeighAnn Bogner, Katie Rauth, Yixuan Pan, and Enrica Ferrero meet each month to decide how best to govern and curate the space.

 

Application Deadline: Friday, June 15th, midnight (11:59 pm)

Notifications:  The following week

Artwork Drop-off: June 30-31, July 7-8th, and by appointment

Installation: July 6-13, 2018

Exhibition: July 13 – 29th, 2018

Pick up of Artwork: July 29th after 6:00 or by appointment.

Mostly Cut and Pasted Legal Mumbo Jumbo

 

1.    Artists are invited to submit 3 to 5 examples of completed works of art in any media. All submitted work must be available for exhibition, if chosen.

2.    Entry fee of $10 and rejection e-mail pdf is required to apply.

3.    Practice does not take commission on the sale of artwork.  Interested parties will be asked to contact the artist directly.

4.    Artists are responsible for shipping artwork (delivery and pick-up) to and from Practice according to an agreed-upon calendar established on selection.

5.    All work MUST be received ready for installation with proper hanging devices attached and thorough instructions when necessary.

6.    Practice reserves the right to photograph accepted works for publicity and educational purposes. 

7.    Works will not be insured, however Practice takes all efforts to insure the safety of your artwork.  Additional insurance, including during transit, is the responsibility of the artist. We urge you to consider the high-traffic, DIY nature of Practice’s exhibition environment when submitting your works.
