PARADICE PALASE is seeking proposals for unique and short-term programs to include in a weekend event at our gallery! SUMMER CAMP is a two-day lineup of classes, workshops, activities, and performances for networking and professional development of artists and creatives.

 

FREE TO APPLY! We encourage anyone 18 year and older in the NYC area to submit a proposal.

 

WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Participatory performances and interactions:

-Think: summer camp fun, collaborative opportunities, sound & culinary experiences, restful and stress relief activities, elevated icebreakers, exercises in intimacy, etc.

-if you are musically inclined or want to share your performance art, we’d love hear from you too about mini sets or unique music / art performances

Professional development workshops, discussions, roundtables, artist talks:

-Some examples we’ve thought of include: a grant writing workshop, an artspace panel discussion, resource sharing roundtable, artist speed dating, etc

Artmaking activities:

-we encourage these to be leisurely, fun activities that lean toward crafty -

- *ALREADY INCLUDED IN OUR WEEKEND IS: HandMade Paper Workshop & Mosaic Memory Planter Pots,

-examples include: Blind Contour Drawing, Live Drawing, Community Mural, etc

 

SUMMER CAMP Dates and Times:

-Saturday September 8, 12-9 PM

-lunch break 2-3 PM

-dinner break 6-7 PM

 

-Sunday September 9, 12-6 PM

-lunch break 2-3 PM

-Backyard BBQ & Afterparty 6:30-9pm ($3-5 sliding scale donation for food)

FREE w/ RSVP all weekend!

$5 entry per day without RSVP

*Any door sales we receive will be used to assist with our marketing, snack and beverage costs.*

 

As an artspace looking to grow more deeply into the community, we want SUMMER CAMP to be a free/low-cost weekend to encourage anyone to attend. We are opening our doors as a host and are here to help shape your idea to be as successful as it can be. However, due to the nature of our space, we cannot provide funding to support proposals at this time. All costs to produce your program will need to be incurred by you, the organizer. Organizers are welcome  to accept donations during their program or performance to help offset costs with a cap of $10 suggested donation. We do greatly encourage proposals that can be free and open to the public.

 

We will be utilizing both our indoor gallery space and our outdoor patio space. You can propose a program or activity for either space. We will break in the middle of the day for lunch and before evening programs. Ticket holders can come and go as they please. We will have some light snacks and drinks, but please feel free to BYO. While we are reserving Saturday evening as a performance night, we may curate your performance for a day time slot. Please do state the length of your proposed performance/activity/happening (max 1 hr) and your preferred day and time. Performers and musicians - please have your own equipment.

 

*Note*: You DO NOT have to be an artist or creative professional to submit a proposal or attend, although we do strongly encourage artists and creatives to apply and attend. The goal of SUMMER CAMP is about sharing and participating with peers, networking, learning, and just having some late summer fun!

Please attach as a one PDF:

-CV

-one paragraph describing your creative work experiences

-one page (max) description of your program, from concept to production

-answer to the question: what makes you weird?

 

-suggested supplemental materials:

-2-3 visual aids (past pics of programs or performances, video links, etc)

-current favorite meme
