CASVA 2019-2020 Visiting Senior Fellowships

The Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts announces its program for Paul Mellon and Ailsa Mellon Bruce Visiting Senior Fellowships. Fellowships are for full-time research, and scholars are expected to reside in Washington; housing is provided, subject to availability. Applications will be considered for research in the history, theory, and criticism of the visual arts of any geographical area and of any period. For appointment to visiting senior fellowships in 2019 – 2020, the Center encourages applications in the fields of the visual arts and culture of African Americans, Africa, and the African diaspora. Visiting senior fellowships (up to 60 days) are intended for those who have held the PhD for five years or more at the time of application, or who possess an equivalent record of professional accomplishment.

Award period: March 1– August 15, 2019; applications submitted online by: September 21, 2018. The fellowship is awarded without regard to age or nationality of applicants. Through its fellowship programs, CASVA also seeks a diverse pool of applicants in the visual arts and especially welcomes candidates from underrepresented backgrounds.
