Call for RAAMP Coffee Gathering Hosts

As part of the CAA Mellon Foundation-funded project, Resources for Academic Arts Museum Professionals (RAAMP), RAAMP shares free resources for academic museum professionals and organizes monthly webinars called "Coffee Gatherings."

RAAMP’s Coffee Gatherings have given participants an opportunity to connect with colleagues from the field and informally discuss their work as academic art museum professionals, the mission of their institutions, successful case studies, and innovative solutions they craft to deal with challenges specific to academic museums and galleries. 

Each month, a Coffee Gathering host presents on a topic, or case study, of their choosing and then facilitates a discussion around their topic. These pertain to the host’s interests or challenges they face in their roles at university and college art museums. Coffee Gatherings are an hour long and usually take place during a weekday lunch hour using Skype for Business or Google Hangouts, depending on RSVP interest. 

Previous Coffee Gatherings include: Museums without Walls,  Models of Curricular Exhibitions, and the most recent Curriculum Development Workshops. 

Potential topics may include:

- The ethics of deaccessioning

- Decolonizing the academic art museum

- Diversity and inclusion

- Engaging the community beyond students, staff and faculty

- Technology and/or "Instagrammable" Moments ion academic art museums

- Negotiating relationships between academic art museums and their parent institutions

- The role of alumni in academic museums and galleries

- The future of the field: how to provide opportunities for emerging professionals 

- Or a complete different topic of your choosing!
