Byrdcliffe Artist Residencies offer uninterrupted time and space for artists, writers, composers, and creatives in all disciplines with fully and partially funded residencies. Our serene mountain community is 2.5 hours north of NYC in the mountains of Woodstock NY. Byrdcliffe’s AiR program is particularly beneficial to those who find it restorative to live in a simple, communal environment in close proximity to natural beauty.
Monthly artists may choose between communal living consisting of a private bedroom in a shared building with a separate private studio OR apply for private live/work cottages in close proximity. Cottages may accommodate couples depending on their practices. Regretfully Byrdcliffe is unable to accommodate young children at this time. Artists are invited to participate in optional activities such as open studio, work-share, and communal dinners or are free to work in solitude during their entire stay.
2019 ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM – SESSION DATES

The main criterion for acceptance to Byrdcliffe’s AiR program is artistic excellence or demonstrated commitment to one’s field of endeavor. Byrdcliffe is committed to a policy of nondiscrimination and equal opportunity for all persons. Women, people of color, LGBTQIA communities, and other historically underrepresented artists are encouraged to apply. Byrdcliffe offers ADA compliant access to its main residency building and some studios.
