The Oresman Gallery, located in the Smith College Department of Art, is an exhibition space dedicated to showing new work by emerging and established artists. The Oresman is currently seeking proposals in any media, for solo show opportunities for our 2020-2021 exhibition season. Applications will be reviewed by a committee of Smith College studio art faculty. To coincide with Smith College’s upcoming, Year of Climate Change, we are particularly interested in work that addresses contemporary issues of climate, environment and ecologies, or work that socially engages with these topics. Each exhibition will be installed from 6-8 weeks, and scheduled throughout the calendar year.

The Oresman Gallery will provide artists with a remuneration of up to $400 to cover documented exhibition costs. Exhibitors are responsible for installing and de-installing their work, with the assistance of a student gallery intern. The gallery is 12’ x 20’ with 10’ walls, and one window wall.

Submission Materials

-Up to 10 Images/or 2 videos of all work for the proposed exhibition. If the work is in process, submit similar work and describe the eventual exhibited piece(s) in a more detailed proposal.

 -Image list

-Brief exhibition proposal

-Brief artist’s statement (which may be combined with proposal)

-CV/résumé with website and contact information

Please compile these documents as one PDF: 10 images, saved as high quality JPEGs, a brief exhibition proposal, an artist statement, image list with title media and dimensions, and resume/CV.
