Category: Calls For Papers [View all]
Posted by: Georgia State University
Deadline: 04/27/08

Panel Session: SECAC, New Orleans, Sept 24-27, 2008
What are the qualities that other artists or art historians value in an "artist's artist?" What important insights might a critical assessment of an artist’s artist reveal about the politics of artistic and scholarly trends, the demands of the art market, the modern cult of personality, or the inter-dynamics of an artistic sub-culture? What are the personal ramifications of being identified as an artist’s artist? What are the professional stakes of promoting ("discovering") an artist’s artist? Individual case studies and analyses of an artist’s artist from different time periods are welcome, as are papers that address broader personal, ideological, historical, contextual or international perspectives. Submit 200 word abstract and current CV via email to Susan Richmond (srichmond@gsu.edu) by April 27. Conference info: www.secollegeart.org
