Postmark and/or email deadline for submitting abstracts is Thursday, May 15, 2008.
This year's Symposium will focus on the role of the remnant as a subject of discourse in art history. What is a remnant and what are the cultural, historical, social, or ethical implications of considering that which remains? Papers may consider the remnant in any form–painting, sculpture architecture–and conceptually in any relation to artistic creation—production, exchange, content, etc. Examples from all periods and regions are encouraged.
Abstract submissions of 300 words or less and a current curriculum vitae must be received by Thursday, May 15, 2008 by 5pm to ahsympos@humnet.ucla.edu or by mail to:
