Contemporary Outdoor Sculpture: Conquering New Venues and Welcoming New Audiences

This session is dedicated to an investigation of the placement of contemporary sculpture in outdoor venues that are innovative in context and provocative for new audiences. Placements may be within the parameters of an urban center or a museum, or perhaps a new venue previously untapped for the installation of contemporary sculpture. Each of three panelists will present on recent and unique installations that have successfully introduced contemporary work to broad and diverse audiences. Considering Chicago conference site and the session sponsorship by the Midwest Art History Society, emphasis will be placed on Midwestern venues. Please submit proposals by August 1, 2009 to:
