Call for Papers: Roy Lichtenstein

Type: Calls For Papers [View all]
Posted by: Art Institute of Chicago
Deadline: 04/19/10

The Art Institute of Chicago and Tate Modern, London, are co-organizing a major retrospective of foremost Pop artist Roy Lichtenstein, to open in Chicago in May 2012. James Rondeau, AIC’s Curator of Contemporary Art and Sheena Wagstaff, Tate Modern’s Chief Curator, will co-curate the exhibition. In the fall of 2010, the Art Institute will host a convening of both established and lesser-known Lichtenstein scholars. The goal of these closed-door sessions is an intensive exchange of ideas and positions, which will be used as a springboard for catalogue contributions and exhibition-related programs. To that end, we invite proposals for 25-minute presentations, which address new, scholarly approaches to the work, influences and legacy of Roy Lichtenstein. Please send 300 word proposals and a brief CV to Maureen Pskowski at mpskowski@artic.edu. This program is generously supported by The Terra Foundation for American Art.
