Call for Artists
Maine Wood Forever is a heritage conservation organization working on a project involving Henry David Thoreau and the route he followed through Wabanaki lands under the guidance of Penobscot Indian Joe Polis in 1846, 1853 and 1857. We are seeking a monument to be installed at the base of Mount Kineo on Moosehead Lake near Greenville, Maine by June, 2007. We prefer to employ the use of local materials, such as Kineo Rhyolite, granite, etc. The project site is approximately 50 x 50' on Kineo; the artist can choose to fill as much space as necessary.

The following should be submitted for review by 2/15/2006:
*5-10 pictures—showcasing your most recent work via slides, CD or website. Please don’t send original artwork.
*1-2 Page Essay—describing how you would approach a project of this subject and scope.
Mail to: Sculpture Committee, Maine Woods Forever, 485 Chewonki Neck Rd., Wiscasset, ME 04578
Please e-mail Eric at eric_epi@yahoo.com with any question
