Strong and Chata in partnership with the Beer Run Gallery are accepting submissions for their upcoming exhibition STRONG AND CHATA: WE ARE ALL NARIZONA.
Media is open but needs to relate to the exhibition theme. Please send 5-10 jpg images, time/media based work please send link or DVD, artist proposal, artist statement, CV, and SASE to Strong and Chata, c/o Studio One, 1010 W. 18th St., Chicago, IL 60608; strongandchata@gmail.com
Deadline: July 31, 2010. Exhibition Dates: September 11-October 23, 2010.
The exhibit calls attention to the present convergence of social and historical occurrences: Arizona Governor Jan Brewer just signed SB 1070; Mexican and Mexican-American peoples commemorate the centennial of the Mexican Revolution of 1910. While "Strong and Chata: We Are All Narizona" is playfully worded (chata means a female person with a broad nose; narizona means female person with a big nose), the organizers are committed to showcasing diversity of all socially minded art.
