“France 1500: the Pictorial Arts at the Dawn of the Renaissance”

This Colloquium is organized around two exhibitions: “France 1500: the Pictorial Arts at the Dawn of the Renaissance,” Sept 9–Nov 28, 2010 at Les Enluminures, Paris; and “Entre Moyen Age et Renaissance France 1500,” in Paris (Grand Palais, Oct 6, 2010–Jan 10, 2011) and Chicago (Feb 26–May 30, 2011). Talks will explore issues of patronage, production, and interchanges between media in artistic centers outside Paris, Tours, Bourges, Lyons, Angers, and Rouen. Speakers: Elizabeth L’Estrange, Tania Levy, Marie Jacob, Nicolas Herman, Caroline Blondeau, and Rose-Marie Ferré. Discussants: Elizabeth Taburet-Delahaye and Thierry Crépin Le Blond, curators of the Grand Palais exhibition.
