Deadline: 11/15/10
The Penn State Altoona Visual Art Studies program is taking applications for a one-semester teaching residency in studio art with an emphasis in painting. The ideal candidate will be able to offer a low toxicity approach to painting that involves little or no solvents. The residency is designed to offer an emerging artist substantial time to develop a new or existing body of work, and offers a $5,000 stipend and an additional $5,000 allowance to cover room and board in return for teaching one studio workshop in painting during the spring 2011 semester (January 10-May 5). The Emerging Artist in Residence will also mount a solo exhibition, lecture about their work, and serve as a resource to Visual Art Studies majors. Emphasis will be placed on the quality of the work submitted. A Masters of Fine Arts degree (earned within the last three years) is required for eligibility.
