Posted by: Center for Race and Culture at the Maryland Institute College of Art
Deadline: 11/14/10

The Center for Race and Culture at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) will host "THINK TANK--2010 and Beyond: New Directions in African American Art - Transformative Aesthetic Curriculum Design," to be held November 11-14 in Baltimore at the school's Falvey Hall, Brown Center, 1301 W. Mount Royal Ave.

Inspired by MICA's 2009 conference "Transformations: New Directions in Black Art," THINK TANK will explore new directions in African American art and aesthetics, especially topics related to curriculum design for K-12 art education programs. Core topics include: relationships to the community; digital technological approaches to artistic production as they impact this community; contributions from the vanguard of MacArthur scholars; and a vision for critical thinking.

Cost: $100 MICA staff, faculty, alumni, students; $150 NAEA members; $175 nonmembers; $200 late registration. Details at www.mica.edu/Research_at_MICA/Research_Centers/Center_for_Race_and_Culture.html
