Deadline: 09/28/10
The ITHAKA Sustainable Scholarship Conference 2010 takes place September 27-28 in New York. A rich, varied program is planned for leaders from libraries, presses, publishers, learned societies, digital projects, and funders in higher education.
Sessions on day one are devoted to ITHAKA's work, where you can learn more about ongoing projects and future directions for JSTOR, Portico, and Ithaka S+R. On day two, participants explore facets of Discovering Scholarly Content, a topic as complex as it is critical to the success of scholarly communication in a digital age.
Daniel Russell, a senior research scientist at Google, gives the keynote address. Panels are intended to provoke new thought and vigorous discussion: How do scholars and students find the information they need? What techniques do publishers use to help them? What role do libraries play in the discovery process? How is data analysis used to create meaningful discovery tools?
