Deadline Extension: artists' statements

Type: Calls For Papers [View all]
Posted by: Forum for Modern Language Studies
Deadline: 12/15/10

We are seeking articles for a special issue of Forum for Modern Language Studies on Artists' Statements: Origins, Intentions, Exegesis. What motivates artists to establish intellectual or personal histories for their work? How do artists' statements relate to the question of intention? Should they be treated differently from other literary or primary source texts? We invite articles from an open disciplinary base (encompassing literature, philosophy and aesthetics, art and cultural history, anthropology, sociology and politics), broad chronological parameters, and a wide-ranging set of national and cultural contexts. Please send a 300-word abstract by email to the special issue editors, Natalie Adamson (na14@st-andrews.ac.uk) and Linda Goddard (ljg21@st-andrews.ac.uk) by 15 Dec 2010. Articles chosen for further consideration must be submitted in final form (c. 5000 words inc. notes) by 1 Nov 2011 for Oct 2012 publication.
