Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) seeks an accomplished artist to create a work of public art during our inaugural artist residency to be held in April 2012.

Project Goals:

• Create a unique, site-specific artwork in any medium (sculpture, installation, mural, video, performance, etc.) that will enliven a public space at WPI
• Promote curiosity and dialogue among the diverse members of our community
• Engage in an on-site artistic process in collaboration with WPI students and faculty
• Create artwork that is safe and easily maintained for the duration of the installation period
• Proposals that creatively link art with science and/or technology are encouraged, but not required

Budget:
Artist honorarium - $5000
Artist travel & accommodation - up to $2000
Art materials and supplies - $2000

April 12-19, 2012 - Residency period
