Spanish Italy and the Iberian Americas -- Call for Applications

Michael Cole and Alessandra Russo seek scholars to join the research group during the period 6/2016-10/2017. Participants will collaborate to discern common dynamics and study artistic ties that developed between these regions in the early modern period. Junior scholars and senior faculty will collaborate and communicate regularly, sharing bibliographies and contributing monthly to a research blog. Together, participants will travel to historically Spanish regions of Italy in Jan. 2017 to visit and discuss works. 6 months later participants will convene in New York City for a workshop. Recent PhDs to junior faculty members working on early modern Italian or Latin American art may apply, though preference will be given to those from Italian or Latin American universities. Submit a statement (max 3 pages) explaining interest; a description (max 2 pages) of a current project; a CV; 2 letters of recommendation; and writing sample as a PDF to connectingarthistories@columbia.edu by 3/31/16.
