Smarthistory, the leading resource for teaching and learning art history online, brings the expertise of individual scholars and curators to a global audience. (A not-for-profit, Smarthistory received 37 million pageviews in 2017 alone.) If you hold a Ph.D. in art history or a related field and you are interested in contributing within your field of expertise in the form of short essay (800-1200 words), please send your c.v. to the emails listed below. We are looking for scholars in many areas of study, with a particular need for specialists in the art of Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Oceania.

Essays are reviewed and edited by Dr. Beth Harris and Dr. Steven Zucker (Smarthistory’s Executive Directors), Dr. Naraelle Hohensee (Smarthistory’s Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow) and Smarthistory’s contributing editors. Contributions include a byline, and authors are highlighted. Essays remain the intellectual property of the contributor and are published with a Creative Commons non-commercial license.
