The Midwest Art History Society (MAHS) will hold its 47th Annual Conference in Houston, Texasfrom March 19-21, 2020, with sessions hosted by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and special events scheduled at the Menil Collection and the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (CAMH). University of Houston is the academic sponsor, with contributions by several regional institutions. Deadline to submit abstracts for papers to session chairs is December 20, 2020. For more information see: https://www.mahsonline.org/conference/

 

This year’s keynote lecture will be given by Dr. Mari Carmen Ramírez, Wortham Curator of Latin American Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Dr. Ramírez’s talk, “Paradigm Shifts in Latin American and Latinx Art (1980-2019),” will examine the profound transformation in those fields over the last four decades in the US. Special behind-the-scenes programs at partner museums will make this conference a particularly memorable experience, including tours of the Menil Drawing Institute and MFAH collections highlights.
