Say Their Names: Black Lives Matter National Juried Exhibition

Type: Exhibition Opportunities [View all]
Posted by: Drury University
Deadline: Fri, December 11th, 2020

Drury University seeks entries for an upcoming art exhibition "Say Their Names:  Black Lives Matter", February 5-26, 2021 at Pool Art Center Gallery in Springfield, MO. For this twofold exhibition, we invite artists to submit photographs of the Black Lives Matter protests. The show seeks to highlight citizens who have taken to the streets to peacefully protest violence and racism against people of color. We also invite artists to submit works created in honor of specific individuals who have been brutalized or killed because of racism (throughout history). Areas of the gallery will be devoted to memorials of these individuals. The BLM protest photographs will be exhibited in between the memorials. Accepted artists will be invited to donate a work that will be auctioned with 100% of proceeds going to Drury scholarships for African American students. Artists will not be required to donate works; it is purely voluntary. Open to artists over the age of 18 living in the U.S. Up to 3 entries per artist. BLM documentary images should be photographs. Homage memorial images can be in any medium. 2-D works should be no larger than 24x30 inches and must be framed and ready for display. 3-D works are limited to 3x3 feet. Documentary videos of BLM protests are limited to 5 minutes. No entry fee. Deadline: December 11, 2020. https://www.drury.edu/pool-art-center/say-their-names.
