ONE WORK – Arts Writer Open Call
PROSPECT ART is a forward-thinking, Los Angeles-based artist-run organization that fosters artists’ careers by providing exposure through open dialogues, critical writing, project grants, and exhibitions.
The organization was conceived during the 2020 pandemic. Prospect Art is looking towards a world of representation and equality by creating new opportunities for local, national, and international artists. The organization is structured as an agile, responsive entity to serve artists, the local Los Angeles community, and beyond by supporting existing and new works to be presented to the public. We’re interested in breaking down silos and sharing information and knowledge to further the careers of artists and forge new alliances with the community.
Prospect Art is seeking arts writers for the ONE WORK series. The ONE WORK series is dedicated to a critical dialogue that focuses on one specific completed work by a contemporary artist. The series unites visual artists and critical writers through a monthly online publication.
This open call is for any writer enthusiastic about art that would want to write a short piece about a specific work from a contemporary artist that you will be paired with from our open call artist pool. We know that people wear many hats in the art world, so we are open to curators, writers, or artists who desire to be part of this project and write an article.
Requirements:
Submit a single PDF that contains the following:
+Contact information, Name, Email, Social media handles, website
+Name 4-5 established contemporary artists that you are interested in
+1-2 page CV or bio
+2 contemporary art writing samples in the form of articles, catalogues or text that you have written in English of at least 500 words. Embed link in pdf or include text in pdf. Please name you PDF : YOUR NAME_MONTH_YEAR_Writer_ProspectArt.pdf
If selected you will receive:
+a $200 honorarium upon completion/publication of the article
+the article will be featured on the Prospect Art Website
+social media promotion
