ARCH.: An International Call for Works Exploring Made Space

Type: Exhibition Opportunities [View all]
Posted by: Manifest Creative Research Gallery and Drawing Center
Deadline: Sun, August 21st, 2022

The Cincinnati based non-profit arts organization and gallery, Manifest, invites visual artists and designers to submit original works exploring architecture. Open to any and all traditional and non-traditional visual arts 2d, 3d, or 4d media, genre, and subject.

It has been said that architecture may be the ultimate form of art. After all, it is both expressive, informative, and serves as a refuge from the elements. What happens when it becomes the content of other architecture—of the gallery itself?

ARCH. was a theme last presented at Manifest in 2011, over a decade ago. As a deliberate parallel to our Fourth Wall exhibition of art that challenges the ’frame’, ARCH. is an invitation to artists, architects, designers, makers, and others to submit works that in some way explore or feature made space. This may be in the form of models or sculptures exploring space as a medium in general; drawings, paintings, photography, or other media that depict human-made space as a primary subject; installation work that creates a new space within the pre-existing environment of the gallery; or video or other types of works which explore the concept of spaces altered by, or created by people as a primary theme.

$40 for up to FOUR entries submitted. $5 per each additional entry.

ANNUAL CASH AWARD: The annual Manifest Grand Jury Prize will result in the awarding of one significant cash prize ($5000) to a single work selected as the ’best of the entire season’.
