Blurring the Lines of Home

Over the past few years, our traditional definitions of space(s) and ideas of “home" have been complicated and expanded. Home is no longer just a place of domesticity and leisure. For some, it is a place of work. For others, it is a place of isolation and confinement. How does working from home change one’s relationship to their eating and sleeping spaces? How does the ability or inability to leave home change one’s relationship to outside spaces? This exhibition explores how these lines have been blurred and changed our understanding of home, work, and space(s).

Pittsburgh Seen is a multi-platform online gallery supporting/promoting early to mid-career artists via thematic exhibitions.  Exhibiting artists are featured/promoted via website, social media, and pop-up exhibitions worldwide and have the opportunity for studio visits via zoom from Pittsburgh Seen and its curators. All artists must be over 21 years of age and not be enrolled in an undergraduate program to exhibit.

Our Guest Curator, Carolina Alamilla is an artist, educator, writer, and curator; her current research examines nontraditional gallery spaces and how art in a casual context can create a deeper connection with a viewer.  Carolina is a Curatorial Fellow with Stay Home Gallery. She founded @thirdfloorwindow a video gallery in Pittsburgh, PA. Ms. She holds a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Ceramics & Transmedia from Texas Tech University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, she is currently an Assistant Professor of Studio Art at Washington & Jefferson College.
