Ekphrasis: An Art History Graduate Journal

Type: Calls For Papers [View all]
Posted by: Tufts University
Deadline: Fri, January 15th, 2027

We are reaching out to share information about a Call for Papers/Proposals for our second issue of Ekphrasis: An Art History Graduate Journal, to be published in Spring 2027. All submissions should be directed to the Ekphrasis Website.

Ekphrasis is an online scholarly journal produced by the graduate students of the Department of the History of Art and Architecture at Tufts University. Published annually in partnership with Tisch Library, the journal will provide a platform for art historical exploration and analysis through which budding scholars may broaden and nuance the field. Graduate submissions, including academic essays and book reviews, may address artworks and related topics ranging from ancient to contemporary visual culture, drawing upon any number of methodological frameworks. For this issue, there is no designated theme; we welcome submissions on any art historical topic. A section highlighting exhibitions in the New England area will give graduate students both within and beyond the region an opportunity to engage with the art historical/museological landscape in this area.

Submissions are due on or before January 15, 2027. If students have any questions regarding the journal, they are encouraged to reach out via email to Anna.Powers@tufts.edu and Aiden.Levy@tufts.edu.

Best regards,

Aiden Levy & Anna S. Powers
