Creator Camp: week-long creative camps for artists on Denman Island, BC
Type: Residencies, Workshops, Exchanges [View all]
Posted by: Camp Denman Society
Deadline: Sun, December 26th, 2027
Spend a week making the work you keep putting off, on 37 oceanfront acres of forest, orchard and shoreline on Denman Island, British Columbia. Camp Denman is a not-for-profit creative camp on the historic Elkhaven property.
Creator Camp runs Sunday afternoon to Friday morning. Each artist picks one track (filming and editing, art outdoors, vibe coding, or yoga and movement) and works with a lead who does it for a living, alongside a small group of other creators. Film, music, writing, visual art and code share the week, and the cross-pollination is the point. Meals are chef-made and shared at one long table, evenings are around the fire, and Friday closes with a showcase. Shorter 2- and 3-night Creator Sessions are also available.
The team includes Mark Benard (31 years in visual effects; founder of Lost Boys | School of VFX), ceramicist and painter Ember Blair Hutchens, and singer-songwriter and chef Tahiti Rey-Linton. Every adult week also holds a tent for an invited Creator in Residence; applications are welcome.
Lodging is in heated canvas tents with power and Wi-Fi; the week includes all meals, your track lead and the shuttle from Comox. Fee-based, from CA$2,195 per person before tax (20% Build Season rate for Oct-Nov 2026 camps). Adults 19+; supervised Youth Creators Camps for ages 13-18 run on school breaks and in summer. Weeks run February to December. A list of Canadian arts funding programs artists can apply to is on our website.
