The City of Richmond Public Art Commission is seeking qualified artists to create commissioned artwork for the Richmond Riverfront portion of the Virginia Capital Trail.The Virginia Capital Trail is a 54-mile bike and pedestrian trail connecting Virginia’s colonial capital, Williamsburg, with its present day capital, Richmond. The PAC has been appropriated $21,500 for art for the trail per the City’s Percent-for-Art ordinance. The Commission received an additional $3,500 in grant funding for the project from the Virginia Commission for the Arts. It is estimated that $20,000 of the budget will be devoted to the selected artwork, which includes materials, installation, and the artist’s commission. Since the project will utilize grant funding from the Virginia Commission for the Arts, the selected artwork will need to be completed and installed prior to June 1, 2010.
