Call for Artists: The Nature of the Future

Type: Exhibition Opportunities [View all]
Posted by: Belmont University
Deadline: Fri, October 15th, 2021

Taking its title from Elizabeth Kolbert’s new book Under the White Sky: The Nature of the Future, this exhibition at the Leu Art Gallery at Belmont University will address global warming and the changing composition of the natural world. We seek artists whose work considers the "second nature" that humans have created and the efforts to resist its most dire consequences. We are concerned in particular with the work of photographers, but we encourage work in other media, and we are open to contributions by non-artists (researchers, scientists, journalists, etc.) whose work in documenting climate change and humanity’s impact on the natural world (through audio, video, data visualization, etc.) could contribute to the exhibition.

The exhibition is scheduled to run from March 7th to May 6th in 2022. Belmont University is located in Nashville, Tennessee.

Please include images of relevant work and a cv or resume (in one pdf, preferably). Please be sure to include a link to your website if you have one. Email submissions to thenatureofthefuture@gmail.com. Address all correspondence to Robin Paris, Christine Rogers, and Tom Williams.
