CAA's Professional Development Fellowship in Art History
CAA's Professional Development Fellowship in Art History supports graduate students and scholars in art, architecture, and/or design historians, curators, or critics who recently received their PhD and are preparing the PhD for publication or who are conducting research in their final year to complete their PhD. The awards will be given to multicultural art historians and art historians from underrepresented groups and from culturally diverse communities. Each fellow is given a one-time award to help with various aspects of their work, whether for job-search expenses, image license fees, or other publishing costs. Fellows also receive a free one-year CAA membership and complimentary registration to the next Annual Conference. Honorable Mentions, given at the discretion of the jury, receive a free one-year CAA membership and complimentary registration for the next Annual Conference. One fellowship will be awarded in the amount of $10,000. Please upload the following forms, attachments and references:
- CV or resume
- Personal essay, up to four double-spaced pages in 12 pt, Times New Roman font
- Dissertation prospectus
- Sample completed chapter
- Timetable for dissertation completion (required only for dissertations in progress)
- Two letters of recommendation (provide contact information and we will notify referees. Please note that this is due at the same time as the rest of the application).
