About the exhibition:

In accordance with its mission statement (see below), CornerProjects, Chicago invites visual artists to submit explorations of loss through the genres of comedy, tragedy, mystery, etc, with an emphasis on the visual aesthetic of the common neighborhood lost and found flyer. Depending on available space, all submission will either be displayed simultaneously or rotationally. All qualifying submissions that meet our guidelines will be exhibited. No entry fee.

Submission guidelines:*

Lost and Found flyer content and design must be the intellectual property of the individual or group submitting the flyer. Flyers must be no larger than a standard sheet of paper, 8.5 x 11 inches. PDF or JPEG submissions should be either emailed or mailed to the main offices. Artworks will be tied (as opposed to stapled) to trees on the exhibition site. Specific hanging instructions will be considered but may not be adopted. One entry per individual/collective. Deadline: 12:00 AM (CST), September 29, 2017.

*CornerProjects in an outdoor public art space and cannot guarantee the safety of any art objects placed on display. All artworks will not be insured and may be subject to severe weather conditions, public interventions, and/or removal. Original artworks mailed in will not be returned and will be promptly discarded. Hard copies and digital submissions will not be re-displayed in future exhibitions unless authorized by the artist(s). All artworks are subject to the curatorial discretion of CornerProjects and as such maybe rejected if deemed inappropriate for a neighborhood setting.

Mission Statement:

CornerProjects encourages innovative engagements in public art utilizing the publicly owned and privately maintained outdoor space of a city parkway. CornerProjects exhibitions aim to highlight the intersections between public and private; urban and suburban; local and national as seen through the metaphor of the street corner as a place where two or more sides meet. Through dynamic online projects and public art exhibitions, artists and/or collectives are encouraged to consider the aesthetics of a city neighborhood. The exhibition space of CornerProjects, Chicago is located on the North/East corner at the intersection of W. Sunnyside Avenue and N. Narragansett Avenue in the Portage Park neighborhood of Chicago, IL.
