Performing Feminism(s)

Type: Exhibition Opportunities [View all]
Posted by: Lamont Gallery, Phillips Exeter Academy
Deadline: Tue, January 2nd, 2018

How does one ‘perform’ a feminist identity or point of view? Is feminism still a useful construct, an important historical movement, or both? Is feminism limited to gender, or can it be more expansive in its intent and impact? This exhibition welcomes work that addresses what feminism has meant, and how new and more diverse feminism(s) can reflect a broad spectrum of voices, even if and when those voices are in disagreement about feminism’s interpretation and usefulness. All media welcome, including 2D & 3D work, installations, interventions, and literary/performing arts. Work does not need to interpret the themes of performing or feminism literally. All work should be ready for display. For selected artists, the Lamont Gallery will try to find creative ways to display art (e.g., if work is not able to be framed because of size, or if the piece requires special technology). Limited shipping support for artists outside of New England. No entry fee. Exhibition will be held at: the Lamont Gallery, Phillips Exeter Academy (Exeter, NH): Submission guidelines and more information: https://www.exeter.edu/arts-exeter/lamont-gallery/visit-lamont-gallery/exhibition-opportunities
