Opportunity
Boise City invites artists to apply for an opportunity to design a mural in celebration of the Boise River Greenbelt’s 50th Anniversary. The mural will be located on the Fairview Bridge underpass retaining walls. The four retaining walls may be addressed in the final design, but the underpass will remain as-is. The artist should choose how to address the space, whether partially or fully, in consideration of the total budget. The artwork should complement the space, serve to highlight the unique and celebrated qualities of the Greenbelt as well as life in the City of Boise. Potential themes for the work are the environment along the Greenbelt, recreational activities, the river, or the history of the area. The selected artist(s) will collaborate with city staff to develop site appropriate content.
The artist will retain the copyright to the work, however the city will maintain ownership of the mural. The mural is expected to last 5 – 8 years and the city may choose to remove the mural and/or provide a new opportunity for the space in the future.
