Bauhaus Palimpsest: the Object of Discourse
Harvard University Art Museums
March 14-15, 2008.
This conference probes how the functioning of the Bauhaus as a kind of palimpsest has contributed to the reception of the school generally and its continued relevance to architects and designers; it asks what role do so-called Bauhaus objects play therein.
A broad range of historical and exploratory papers are welcome, including comparative papers on topics germane to the Bauhaus and/or its historical arc as well as individual designers, architects, artists, and intellectual structures that helped shape it, and papers related to the status of the object broadly—encompassing multiple theoretical and artistic strategies. The participation of practicing architects and designers is also encouraged. Deadline for submission: October 26, 2007. For call for papers and instructions for submission please visit:
