Lillstreet Art Center is currently seeking artists for year-long residencies in Ceramics and Metalsmithing, and 9-month Residencies in Printmaking & Book Arts, Textiles, and Drawing & Painting beginning September 1, 2022.
Our residencies include:
- Free classes in all departments
- Free studio space with 24-hour access
- Paid teaching and/or teaching assistant positions
- Exhibition opportunities
- Career guidance
- A $400 monthly stipend.
The resident artist program enriches our community by bringing artists with unique and refined skills to our educational programming through classes, workshops, public demonstrations and studio hours. As a resident artist, you will continue to develop professionally and intellectually through contact with other residents, department peers, and students.

A bit of background about Lillstreet:
Since 1975, Lillstreet Art Center has been a community of artists and students working side-by-side. Located in the Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago, Lillstreet supports the arts through a multifaceted arts education program, art exhibition space, retail sales opportunities for artists, studio rentals, and artist residencies. Each year, Lillstreet welcomes over 10,000 students. We offer adult classes & workshops for beginner to advanced students in five different departments: ceramics, metalsmithing, jewelry & glass, painting & drawing, printmaking, and textiles. Each department offers First-Time Artist classes that help beginners to explore a new medium in a relaxed environment. Our Kidstreet program has classes, camps, and workshops for children and families.
