The Ann Arbor Art Center (A2AC) announces an OPEN CALL for artist submissions to Sharing Space, the inaugural exhibition of the A2AC Gallery 2022 Season.  Over the last two years, the meaning and feeling of “space” has dramatically shifted for many of us.  Whether at home or in public, we have developed new ways to engage with each other, our lived environments, and our own physical (and virtual) presence.  Sharing Space invites us to reflect on themes of intimacy, distance, connection, and comfort: How do we think about space and place in times of isolation or transition?  How do we make space(s) for ourselves and others? Finally, how can art making and creative expression help us to reimagine our shared spaces and craft more inclusive social environments?

Sharing Space will coincide with the grand opening of the Art Center’s new street-level gallery and renovated studio spaces, located in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor.  It will be the first of a series of exhibitions that will play a central role in the Art Center’s mission to develop the A2AC Gallery into a shared space for collaboration, encounter, and expression.
