CALL FOR ENTRY EXTENDED 2nd Annual Juneteenth Commemoration - Juried Exhibition: Past Presence
Type: Exhibition Opportunities [View all]
Posted by: Sulfur Studios
Deadline: Mon, April 4th, 2022
For this call we ask artists to consider their own personal history – present or past – as it relates to the Black experience in the United States. To honor the sacredness of this day we are especially encouraging Black artists who are descendants of the enslaved via chattel slavery in the United States to apply for this Call-for-Entry.
From ancestral explorations to modern media narratives – what is your story and experience? Does the past continue to affect your lives in the present moment, if so, how? What are your hopes and dreams for the future? Submit your vision in any medium for consideration for this exhibition.
This exhibition will be juried by several esteemed artists, educators and curators from Savannah, Georgia; Amiri Farris, artist and educator; Antonia B Larkin, artist, curator and Visual Arts Specialist at the Savannah Cultural Arts Center; Lisa Jackson, Education and Community Outreach Liaison at The Savannah African Art Museum; Billie Stultz, Founding Director and Head Curator at The Savannah African Art Museum.
