Deadline: Fri, September 15th, 2023
Wofford’s Goodall Environmental Studies Center in Glendale, South Carolina, is an ideal location for a personal retreat or a public-facing practice. Apply by September 15th to be considered for the spring semester 2-week to 1-month residencies. Visit the website for more information and to apply.
We provide three types of opportunities, all of which include housing located adjacent to the Glendale Shoals Preserve and Waterfall. The “Thinking Like a River” house has a kitchen, bedroom, bath and studio space for your exclusive use. An attached office is used by Wofford’s environmental studies department.
The house is located in the mill village of Glendale, South Carolina, just a block away from the trails along beautiful Lawson’s Fork Creek, historic bridge and Wofford’s Goodall Environmental Studies Center. Like other homes in the village, it was once a duplex that housed mill workers and has been converted to a single-family home with a large front porch.
The private living quarters include a furnished bedroom with queen bed, as well as a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and laundry room on the first floor. An open studio space and a second bedroom with two twin beds are located upstairs. Internet access, linens and all utilities are included. There is off-street parking for your car. The closest grocery, restaurants, etc. are about three miles away. The house is multilevel and is not wheelchair accessible.
Depending on the resident’s needs and length of stay, the studio can be simply furnished. Please note there is no water source in the studio space. For residents teaching for the full semester, it may be possible to use the classroom studios on campus. If this is of interest, please describe your needs in your application.
In addition, you will have access to a shared living room space also used by faculty and faculty emeritus from Wofford’s Department of Environmental Studies. It’s full of interesting books and also has a desk and comfortable seating.
No smoking, and pets are not permitted.
Visit the website for more information and to apply.
