Conference of the International Committee of Art History, Lyon, France
The 36th Conference of the International Committee of Art History (CIHA) will be held in Lyon, France, from June 23 to 28, 2024. Hosted by The French Committee for Art History (CFHA), the Institut National d’Histoire de l’Art (INHA) and the Rhône-Alpes Historical Research Laboratory (LARHRA), this year program will be devoted to the theme of Matter & Materiality. The conference brings together researchers from around the world every four years around a central theme in the history of art. It is open to researchers from all professional backgrounds in the broad field of art history.
The Call for Papers is now open. The session "Art From The Fringes: Material and Materiality" (CIHA202400095) will be chaired by Marianne Jakobi (professor, Université Clermont Métropole), Valérie Rousseau (Senior Curator, American Folk Art Museum, New York), and Pauline Goutain (Associate Directrice & Collection Manager, Musée d’art Roger-Quilliot of Clermont Auvergne Métropole). We invite you to submit your proposal by September 29, 2023. The proposals are to be submitted on the submission platform. Submissions can be written in English or French. Papers will be presented in-person, in either language.
Speakers are responsible for their own registration, travel and accommodation fees. We invite you to get in touch with your institutions of affiliation to discuss opportunities to finance your participation. Committees are actively seeking support for the mobility of researchers.
