ARTIST RESIDENCY FELLOWSHIPS IN PADULA, ITALY

Type: Awards, Grants, Fellowships [View all]
Posted by: Art Center Padula
Deadline: Sun, February 25th, 2024

Art Center Padula was founded as a means to contribute to the revitalization of the southern Italian village of Padula, one of the most beautiful and important towns in the Vallo di Diano in the region of Campania. Our village has experienced a major de-population in the past 25 years, but using art as the impetus, we aim to ignite the creativity and innovation necessary to face the future of this region with hope.

Our Artist-in-Residence Program welcomes artists and writers working in a variety of mediums and genres to live and work in the historic center of Padula, immersing themselves in our way of life here and becoming part of the fabric of the community for the duration of their stay.

We offer each artist a private room and a luminous private studio space at Casa Padula, one of Padula’s oldest and most stately residences. Residents also have use of the large kitchen, the sunroom, il salotto verde (the green salon), library room and the extensive gardens at Casa Padula.

There are seven 3-week residency sessions available between May and October, with 3-4 artists in residence in each session. The cost of each 3-week session is about €975. There is no fee to apply.

Fellowships available for 2024:

The SCAD Alumni Fellowship will be awarded to an outstanding graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design. Full residency fee plus additional stipend for materials/travel.

The Digital Art Fellowship is open to any artist working in digital media, including but not limited to: digital painting/drawing, digital sculpture, digital collage, AI art, 2D/3D animation, CGI, game development and interactive design. Full residency fee plus additional stipend for materials/travel.

The Torna al Sud (Come back to the South) Fellowship will be awarded to an outstanding artist with ancestral roots in the Italian region(s) of Campania, Basilicata or Calabria. Full residency fee.

The Stregoneria Fellowship is open to any artist/writer whose current work deals in some way with Stregheria (the "old religion") or stregoneria (witchcraft, herbalism, etc) and its many facets. Those with family roots in Benevento are especially encouraged to apply! This is a partial fellowship and covers a portion of the residency fee, reducing the total residency fee to €475.

The Founders’ Fellowship is a gift of time and space from the founding memebers of our association. Full residency fee plus additional stipend for materials/travel. Deadline February 25 for 2024 sessions.
