The Todd Art Gallery, part of the Department of Art and Design at Middle Tennessee State University, invites proposals for solo and small group exhibitions from January 2025 to December 2026. The gallery is approximately 1800 square feet and features embedded electrical and screening options for various new media installations. A central feature of the Department of Art and Design, the Todd Art Gallery focuses on community-facing and student-centered endeavors. Diversity in media and approaches are encouraged to reflect Todd Art Gallery’s curatorial efforts and the Department’s interdisciplinary programming. All applications are reviewed annually by gallery staff and a rotating committee of Art and Design faculty.

 

Accepted artists will have opportunities to propose on-site lectures or workshops, provide virtual lectures, or collaborate with faculty on small-scale publication projects in conjunction with their exhibition. These opportunities are contingent upon need, approval, funding, and schedule. 

 

Artists interested in exhibiting in the Todd Art Gallery should submit the following materials, detailed instructions below: contact information of artist(s), a current CV of no more than three pages, an artist statement, a description of the proposed exhibition, and ten images of representative work with a typed image list. All group proposals of two to four artists should provide 12 images. Currently, groups of five or more artists will not be accepted. 

 

Specifics and Deadline:

-          Images should be in jpg format, minimum 150 dpi, with the most significant dimension set to 1200 pixels

-          Images should follow a straightforward naming convention (lastname_firstname_title.jpg)

-          CV and Proposal documents can be sent in standard text file formats (PDF, word, pages)

- For group shows, please include the CV of the originator of the proposal with contact information for all artists (email address, website link, physical address).

 

-          All materials should be submitted via email to TAGSubmissions@mtsu.edu by midnight on April 30th.
