Honorarium: $2,500
Materials Stipend: $200

Applications for 4-week artist-in-residence are now being accepted from visual artists working in any discipline. Artists should be willing to discuss their project conceptualization and visual progression with students, faculty, and the community during open studio hours and public events.

Residency Provides: The artist will be provided 24/7 access to a 1,200 sq. ft. lockable studio space that normally functions as a teaching gallery. The resident studio is located on campus within an academic environment. The resident will be provided with a private, furnished, and equipped apartment within walking distance from the studio. Use of university equipment and space within teaching studios is limited. Therefore, applicants should list specific studio furniture and basic equipment needs in their project intent statement.

Residency Requirements:
• Maintain a full-time schedule that includes an open-door policy, based on course scheduling to share the development of their project with students, faculty, and regional arts community.
• Deliver public artist lecture.
• The residency will culminate with an open studio event and/or exhibition in the Ritz Gallery.
• Hold a minimum of 8 open studio hours per week, visit School of Design class critiques, engage with the South Dakota Art Museum, or participate in brief local interviews as part of the residency.

Artist Responsibilities: Transportation, shipping, materials, supplies, meals, and personal expenses.
