Geometry The Shape of Things
Online Exhibition March 19, 2026 - April 19, 2026
While geometry has been, from ancient times to the present, a means of achieving artistic effect, it was only during the rise of modernism that it became an end in itself. Artists from a variety of movements and countries—Cubist, Dada, and Russian avant- garde artists of the 1910s and 1920s—created worlds of abstracted shapes and off- kilter planes; post-war artists from Rio de Janeiro to Paris investigated line, color, and pure form; artists today use traditional means and novel technologies to investigate geometric form. In Geometry: The Shape of Things, SiteBrooklyn is looking for works, across all mediums, that continue to develop geometry to understand form, shape, and space.
About the Juror: Hannah Sage Kay is an arts writer and critic based between New York and Los Angeles. She studied art history at New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts and Bard College, and has contributed to such publications as Artforum, The Art Newspaper, Autre, The Brooklyn Rail, BOMB, Financial Times, The Guardian, and Los Angeles Review of Books, amongst others.
About the Gallery: Site:Brooklyn Gallery is dedicated to exhibiting the current practice of contemporary artists. We are taking Site:Brooklyn online with a new series of interactive exhibitions. Our goal remains the same, to connect artists with an expert and diverse set of jurors through the open call format. Our new program focuses on online open call exhibitions, selected by a cast of new jurors, solo artist features, and spotlights.
