Type: Calls For Papers [View all]
Posted by: Indianapolis Museum of Art and Indiana University, Bloomington
Deadline: Fri, May 15th, 2009
Abstracts are sought for papers to be presented at this 2-day interdisciplinary conference (Oct. 16-17, 2009) centered on religiosity in the Hispanic world from 1492-1680. Submissions should represent the fields of literature, art, religion, politics and/or history. The symposium will coincide with the opening of the exhibition, Sacred Spain: Art and Belief in the Spanish World.
The symposium will draw synergistically on this exhibition, while seeking to establish a spectrum of other approaches to this cultural production, including but not limited to the following: the Irreligious; the Nonreligious; Classical Myth; Sacred Others; Empire and Religion; and Text and the Sacred Image.
Email 250-500 word abstracts or panel proposals (3 abstracts and panel description) with a brief CV to Steven Wagschal (swagscha@indiana.edu) and Giles Knox (gknox@indiana.edu). Inquiries welcome.
